Media Information & Literacy

Information literacy is a vital skill required to navigate life in the Age of Information. Information literate people discover, assess, and utilize information productively for decision making and problem solving and can obtain this information from a variety of sources (American Library Association, 2006). When a person is informationally literate, they navigate our modern world with knowledge and understanding of how and where to find accurate information. New media literacy includes several types of skills and abilities such as reading, writing, accessing electronic media and digital sources, and sorting and understanding information (Orhan, A. 2023).
